Monterey Pine

Common name:Monterey Pine
Botanical name:Pinus radiata

The Pinus radiata is an evergreen with an incredibly fast growth rate. It survives well in coastal areas and in well-drained soils. With age, the tree drops its lower branches, thus producing a rounded, flat crown.

This evergreen to semi-evergreen tree is both upright and narrow when young, but assumes a spreading form when older. Since it is shallow rooted, deep waterings are essential for deeper rootings. When the tree is young, any long, unsightly branches should be cut back.
